Bruce and Kathy have been married 47 years, have 3 adult children and 6 delightful grandchildren. Over the years, they have served together as missionaries overseas, church planters, and pastors in Burien before retiring. Bruce also co-founded Transform Burien, a local outreach for low-income families and the homeless.

About the leaders
I grew up very shy and too afraid to share my faith with people, not knowing what to, not knowing how to start conversations, and filled with fear. Not only have I learned how to break through my walls, I love helping others to experience the same personal growth I had. We are going to have fun together while fulfilling the Great Commission.

This life group is for young adults and young professionals, ranging from 18 to 34. We are going through “Practicing the Way” together, worshiping, studying, encouraging, and having fun together.
About the leaders
Derien and Abi are the leaders of Youngish Adults. Derien was raised knowing the Lord, but radically sold out for a real relationship with Him, and hasn’t looked back! Abi was raised as a pastor’s kid, and has spent her life in ministry. Derien and Abi are both passionate about “burning the ships” in their lives to grow and move forward in life. They want to see a movement of the Lord, not just in the world, but in the hearts of individuals around them.

Description
We use a group discussion method to read and talk about a different passage of scripture each week. The focus is on helping each person read and extract meaning from the Bible, and then learn ways to apply it to their lives and change how they live or what they believe.
About the leaders
Dan has attended Deeper Church since Jan 2023 and helps in a variety of ways. Before that he led numerous Bible studies and small groups, taught at church events and on Sunday mornings, and has participated in various short-term mission trips. Outside church, he has been a public school teacher, and now works as a marketing writer and novelist.

Description
We will use the inductive study method, with a little lecto-divina prayer and meditation. This includes learning what the verses say, what they mean, how to apply them to our personal lives, and praying the scriptures. This study will help ladies learn how to study the Bible on their own for personal growth. It will include reading the passages at home and answering questions prior to each meeting.

I was raised knowing the Lord but I did not have a true relationship with Him until about 3 years ago when I encountered His faithful love for me on a bathroom floor of an Airbnb. Since then, my life has been about serving the Lord & His Kingdom and obeying His Word. I’m a shy and quiet person but the Lord has challenged me with starting this group so I invite you in joining me as we grow together in the Lord.
